Happy to have a good note taking app. Developers clearly put a lot of thought into the design!
Vesper is the best notes app on the App Store.
Just fantastic.
Used to use Simplenote on iPhone and Mac; now Ive switched to Vesper. Even without a Mac app (yet…), I still prefer Vespers intuitive UI, slick design, and delightful usability. Props to Q Branch. I was a skeptic at first but a few weeks with Vesper has me convinced. What I like about Vesper is the thought put into every facet of the app. Features are never rushed or jammed in; instead, theyre added when they work seamlessly. (See e.g. Vesper Sync.) Plus you can tell that typography matters to Q Branch. Extra points! All in all, a great app thats being actively developed. Certainly deserves to displace the iOS Notes app, and maybe even whatever note-taking app you use right now.
Wow, I was hoping for something better. The app works fine, but the design of it looks like something a coder would design. A coder who thinks he knows about typography. Clearly I could see this from the screenshots but I guess I was hoping for the ability to change it in the Settings. Even the dialog popups for deleting notes are ugly. The italic font is hideous. There doesnt seem to be any harmony between the sidebar settings, etc and the main blue color. Blue for the top bar, grey for the side bar. No harmony. The icons look like theyre from different icon sets and the massive Q for credits just looks awkward like a heavy water balloon lying on the ground. These may seem like nitpicking details, but for the reviewers to say it was well done is a joke. Aside from the design, the animation isnt even nice. I cant even delete notes from the main view, but instead, have to go into each note or into the Archive where I have to swipe yet again. Why its called Vesper or what the Q branch of Bond movies has anything to do with a notes app just comes across as arrogant and childish. Like a bunch of children getting excited about a software company and thinking how cool it would be to use technology like Q branch and then... writing a notes app? Umm, yeah. To associate this with exciting technology from Bond movies is delusional. Wheres the cars shooting missiles? A notes app isnt supposed to be exciting of course, but I was hoping the details would be nicer. Very disappointing. the whole app to me feels boring and uninspired. Not an app I would want to use or be excited to put on my home screen. Ive been reading John Grubers blog a long time and my curiosity has led me to this. A weak app by someone I thought would know how to make something cool.
The tags really gets messy when you have over 20. There is no way to filter or search tags.
If you appreciate the details that elevate an app from a mere utility to a source of pleasure, buy this app. Yes, its iOS only (Mac forthcoming), and no, its not Evernote (more like Simplenote) but youll like this app for the same reasons you like Apple to begin with...
I cant wait for the Mac app and the iPad if its coming :)
Prompt response on the bug.
Without a doubt this stands as one of my top 5 apps. I use it constantly... Brilliant in its simplicity. Updated to support the iPhone 6 plus and looks incredible!!!
This app is good but doesnt offer search functionality into documents like the default note iOS. Which is a extremely useful feature. It pinpoints the word youre searching for inside the document not just showing what document the word belongs too. Please update this feature for this to be 10/10.
Vespers search box has corners that are even less rounded than Spotlights search box. This is definitely not in the style of Apple, nor does it add anything unique to the app. On the contrary, it distracts the user from Vespers otherwise lovely design. I dont know if this is how Vesper is trying to achieve a design thats a step up from iOS 8 or whatever, but its not really working. Square corners are ugly, and thats the truth.
Ive enjoyed the use of this app for some time and Im glad it delivered on its promise of cloud syncing. Too many apps promise one thing and, due to changing fortunes, a lack of interest, or out and out deception just refuse to make good on its word. Unfortunately, the last few versions have introduced a nasty text selection/cursor placement bug that renders the program almost unusable if youre editing paragraphs and this is greatly exacerbated if the text extends beyond the length of the screen with the keyboard out. You will lose your place and your selection in no time flat so be sure to edit while you type, not after. Also, Ive locked up the program twice with a custom keyboard. Its not common but Im uncertain if its the keyboard at fault, Vesper, or iOS 8. Oddly enough, thats when I first noticed the text selection mumbo jumbo too..
Vesper is a great note-taking with a focus on typography and speed. I hope they go on to add support for URL schemes so I can link it into other parts of my workflow and make it even faster.
Thanks so much for iPad support—the free upgrade from 1.0 is very generous of you. Synch worked perfectly to bring all my notes over to my iPad from my iPhone.
Just what the doctor ordered. Keep up the good work guys. I was using notes to keep notes and recently upgraded to Vesper once iPad support became available. The tagging system is well designed and a pleasure to use.
So many misleading reviews on the web. It offers nothing. It should be lockable. Where is the date? It is not even beautiful. It is black and whites with some blue strips. No iCloud for sync. Oh! I can put my photo in the app. How amazing. I can write some notes in as a reminder. Again amazing! They want us to sign for their sync system. Why? Shame for all of those technology "gurus" on the web that see mouse and then scream elephant. They suppose to be working for us giving the responsible review not to direct water (money) on Vespers grain mill (pockets).
I love the concept. Its a good on the run way of getting your ideas down and have picture to back it up. The tag feature is beautiful. All files in one place at once! I think the way the pictures are loaded can change. Scalable or off to the side. Great start tho! Very useful tool!
How to describe it? A simple, smooth, and thorough note taking app. Its like using butter instead of margarine.
