Vesper App Reviews

All hype

Vesper was removed from the featured list for note-taking apps, which speaks for itself. Vesper holds potential, but it has been that way for too long now.

Long lasting problem

I dont like leaving critical reviews because apps normally get improvements or bug fixes over time, but Vesper has had a long lasting bug that to me is very frustrating. While attempting to select blocks of text, the app will snap to the bottom or to the top of a note while you are in the process of dragging toward the end of your selection. My email to the developer has gone unanswered, when a simple reply acknowledging the existence of the bug would have made me feel much better. Until this is fixed the app is just not fun to use.

Notes with images cant be tagged

This app has two headline features: tagging and putting images in notes. If you do the latter, you cant do the former. This bug has been well documented and the developers have not responded at all.

Ehhh

Based on the sticker price of $9.99 its not great.

Doesnt sync reliably

I like the features and functionality of this app a lot, but it doesnt reliably keep my notes synchronized between my iPad and iPhone. Now that the iOS Notes app has been beefed up, Im using that instead.

Sync problems

Used this elegant app on my iPhone 5 since it was released. Upgraded to a 6s and it wont sync. I get some strange an message when I try to login. All my notes are trapped on my iPhone 5 and Ive switched to the newly redesigned Notes app on my 6s.

WHY IS THIS $9.99?!?!?!

Seriously this is easily not even worth more than $.99 Improve the UI and add FONTS add FAR more fonts with the ability to change their size! OTHERWISE, lol. Whats the point? Theres free apps that kill this one!

Almost good

Its shiny. But theres always been bugs that make it a pain to use. Currently the issue is that once a note has an image, you cant edit tags for that note. Emailed support repeatedly without any reply before leaving this review. Look for a ripoff app instead, itll probably work better.

Roger Moore

Vesper is a beautiful app, but Id never recommend it. Without a Mac app, your notes are siloed on your iOS device, and even the fantastic typography cant make up for not having access to your notes everywhere. Development seems to have all but stopped, and theres no Mac app on the horizon. Notes.app is free and a better option.

Tagging removed from app

Dont bother. This was a great photo-notes app with an elegant tagging system. The tagging feature was removed. I can no longer tag new notes or edit tags in old notes. I manually copied my notes to Apple Notes; using Folders as a crude tagging system. Then I deleted Vesper from my iPhone :(

pricey, limited, seemingly abandoned

Lots of nagging bugs gone unresolved for years in an iOS-siloed app that never found the right feature set to support its minimalist aims. Drafts is a much more elegant and versatile option. Another instance where it pays to beware apps released by the kind of silly persons who label their personal sites "about" page as a "colophon".

Terrible - Verging on Abandonware

Ive been using Vesper since its first release, and what was once a pretty good app is now close to abandonware. Vesper has a serious bug in iOS 9 that prevents scrolling in long notes; I had to start copying my documents to Apple Notes to read them. Are they seriously charging $10 for this? An email to support went unanswered as well. Vespers main developer quit earlier this year, and everythings stagnated since then. Besides there being no big fixes, the app hasnt gotten any new features or meaningful changes in at least a year. The promised Mac app is nowhere to be seen. If Vesper was a free app this would still be disappointing, but Vespers developers are trying to set a "premium" price point, which is really unjustifiable. Asking your users to pay for a high end product and then abandoning it is a really bad way to do business.

Very well-designed notes app

This app makes it easy to write notes with embedded images - and its usability and design are excellent.

Great look but buggy

Love the look but it is infuriating when i paste something like a recipe and want to edit it. The cursor jumps around, often to the end of the note. its impossible to drag to select just one block of text. With a mac app, this much less of an issue, but theres no mac app. I liked vesper for a quick note, but tired of unfixed bugs and have started painful process of migrating to new app.

Used to be an excellent app, but now abandoned?

Why would you do this to us? We loved you.

Nicely Designed, but still awful

The app looks pretty but has been abandoned. No 3D Touch, no gestures, and no features other than text input. The stock notes app is more powerful. Im disappointed in Gruber. Finally, Vesper is a Data Silo, good luck getting your notes off.

If you spend $10 on this youre an idiot

This app hasnt changed since it came out. Totally abandoned. The fact its now 10 dollars is crazy. Apple promoting This pos is shameful

Hmm

Gruber, youre better than this. People are buying this on your good name but thats not fair considering the lack of everything, including responses. Shelf it. It was a good run.

A sad decline

There was a time when I felt this was the best note app on the iPhone. Sadly, a lack of development and updates, likely due in part to the changes to the built in notes app, makes it impossible to give this app praise.

What happened?

Been using Vesper since day-one, and Im disappointed to say Ive moved on to other note-taking apps. Im not sure what happened to this app. Its missing way too many important, BASIC features. It doesnt support URL schemes, doesnt support share sheets, and theres no Touch ID. Whats the point? If this was 99 cents, fine, but theyre charging a premium price for an incredibly incomplete piece of software. Dont buy this.
